Spring’s Androhyny (Part 3); Blazers

Now the following Androhyny trend that I am going to talk about has been lingering around since 2008 and thankfully, like skinnies jeans – the blazer trend is still existent, 2 years later to this date! So I guess that’s good news for all you girls who are blazer devotees (a.k.a me – I currently own three) and who is a uni student who just doesn’t have enough dough to splurge on any more fashionable goodies.

Now we all know where the blazer originally initiated from and who it was originally intended for. Males of course! Now we all had seen these boys wear their blazers to occasions ranging from wedding receptions, offices to school formals and how much we love it when boys would wrap their warm blazer onto our shoulders when it is minus a trillion degrees outside. Yes, although we appreciate boys for displaying a chivalrous gesture, but of course we girls are most grateful when we had gained the opportunity to become draped in a blazer (usually over-sized! But still good)

So thankfully, when androhyny became a key and hot term in the fashion industry, who need boys anymore? Since we had grasped a hold of what we want most – their blazers. Now blazers vary from thickness, so you won’t need to make a death wish of drowning yourself in the pool because you are so heated up from wearing a blazer. Therefore, perfect for 2010’s spring and summer!

Men in blazers

Folding up the sleeves definitely implements a more casual and chic look, differentiating female’s blazers from male’s blazers. Hence there are so many blazer types to choose from – Balenciaga (school-boy) blazers, short/shrunken blazers, long tuxedo styled blazers, oversized blazers, short sleeved blazers.

The blazer is so versatile – turning casual wear into elegance and sophistication.
So I did it! I hope everyone enjoyed my androhyny series.

Love love, Clara
